This temple is dedicated to Lord Ranganatha and is located on the highest summit of the BR Hills. This temple is the only one in the country with a standing representation of this deity. The deity’s annual car festival celebrated during the month of ‘Vaishakha’ in April, is a well-known event in the region, attracting thousands of pilgrims from all around. At Biligiriranga Hills, the Ratha celebration is held. Once every two years, the indigenous tribes give the Ranganathaswamy a big pair of skin slippers measuring one foot (0.30 m) and nine inches in length.
